Google Forms elective registration for incoming 6th graders will be emailed to families and open from February 25th through March 24th. See the box to the right for 6th grade registration worksheet.
Online elective registration for incoming 7th and 8th graders will be open from February 25th through March 13th. See the box to the right for 7th and 8th grade registration worksheets. Note that students will need to sign in to their Student Access in Qmaltiv in order to select electives. Worksheets and instructions will be handed out to current 6th and 7th graders on February 25th in Gator Time classes. Students need to register online AND turn in worksheets by March 13th. All 7th and 8th grade students have a fine arts requirement to be completed over the course of their 7th and 8th grade years. Choices include a full year of Band, Orchestra, or Choir or the completion of a two trimester Drama (Drama I and Drama II) or Art (Art I and Art II must be completed in the same school year, but Photography can replace Art II) or Yearbook (limited space). Art 6 and Drama 6 do not count toward this requirement. Students may also elect to take additional fine arts courses while at IMS.
In sixth-grade Language Arts students use SpringBoard curriculum. SpringBoard's integrated model of instruction provides thematic units that incorporate close reading, writing, speaking and listening, and
language skills
Literacy skills are the focus of the seventh-grade language arts program and include the teaching of reading both literary and informational text, writing, speaking, listening, and language. The curriculum is aligned with the Common Core State Standards for seventh-grade.
The sixth-grade social studies curriculum focuses on ancient civilizations.
