We Belong Mural
Sponsored by the IMS PTSA and Mercer Island Schools Foundation
This mural is a vibrant expression of our district's focus on belonging. Students in Julie Biggs' Art Classes
collaborated in teams to create a puzzle, each piece representing what belonging means to them.
With creativity, symbolism, and design elements, they painted unique puzzle pieces. Talented Artist in Residence, Perri Rhoden
then added her signature line designs to connect and unite each piece in a dazzling display of intertwined colorful petal shapes.
You can view the mural in the IMS commons until it finds a permanent place in the front of the new building.
The Mural will soon feature a QR Code to written descriptions from each student about the meaning behind their designs.
We are incredibly proud of our students; teamwork, determination, and dedication that led to the successful completion
of this project. A special thank you to the PTSA and the IMS Admin team for their support and encouragement
throughout this process. It has truly been a valuable learning experience for everyone involved.
Thank you for your continued support in our school community.
