Mercer Island, WA, February 23, 2026 - Wildcats everywhere! The audition notice is posted for East High’s spring musical and superstar athlete Troy and science whiz Gabriella secretly want to try out. Will their dreams be thwarted as they navigate the cliques of East High?
High School Musical with its inspiring message of friendship, self-discovery, and teamwork is coming to Mercer Island. Join us as IMS presents High School Musical JR. at the MIHS Performing Arts Center March 20th and March 21st at 7pm and March 21st at 2pm.

Seventh grade students in Jing An’s Chinese class at Islander Middle School competed in a t-shirt design contest to celebrate Lunar New Year, the year of the Fire Horse.

In the spring, rising ninth grader Shannon Barneson was recognized by the New York Times with an Honorable Mention Award in the newspaper’s second annual “How-To Writing Contest” for her submission “How to Avoid Being Called on by the Teacher”.
