The Mercer Island School District is 1:1 iPads in grades 4-12.  All middle school and high school students have the opportunity to check out a district iPad to use and take home throughout the school year. The iPad is property of the Mercer island School District and loaned to students for educational purposes only.

Leaving MISD? Take your Files with You

 Are you graduating or leaving MISD? If so, you can transfer the content of your school Google Drive account. Here's how:

1. On your school account, go to Transfer your content 
2. Enter the email address of the Google Account where you want to copy our content.
3. Select Get code.
4. On your Google Account, check your Gmail inbox for a confirmation email from Google. In the email, select Get confirmation code. A new tab will open with a code.
5. On your school account, go back to the "Transfer your content" page. Enter the code, then choose Verify.
6. Choose the content you'd like to copy, then select Start transfer.

These are the apps that are made available to students for no cost and without the requirement of an Apple ID.  Students will be able to choose which of the app's they install on the iPad issued to them.

While iPads are a powerful learning tool, it is essential for families to set boundaries around the proper use of the iPad at home. As a parent or guardian, you have the final say as to how much your child uses the iPad at home. Here are some tips on how you can help your child become a safe and responsible digital citizen.

Sample Rules for Home iPad Use
Set standards for your child’s use of the iPad at home:

• The school assigned iPad is intended for completion of school work and enrichment of learning. Homework and projects should be the focus of use at home. Any incidental personal use of iPads should follow your family rules (musics, internet...)
• Check your child’s iPad and their school work regularly.
• To supervise the iPad’s use, have your child use the iPad in a central location like the kitchen or living room.
• To avoid unsupervised iPad use, charge the iPad in a central location of the home. 
• If your child is not following your rules, you have the right to limit access to the device.
• Encourage your student to leave the case on, inspect it often to ensure no damage has occurred to the case, iPad or charger.
